The luxury car brand of Volvo has finally started production of their first car, Polestar 1. The layout of the vehicle was set in Sweden and the physical adaptation for customers is being worked upon in polestar’s recently built plant in Chengdu, China. The plant’s structure was outlined by Swedish architect, Snohetta, which shows a panoramic view over the factory floor to provide a great customer experience as a whole.
Debuted in 2017, the Plug-in Hybrid vehicle features a 600 horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, an electric motor at the back, and a 34-kWh battery, which would give a 93-mile range.
Polestar 1 will be limited to 500 cars per year due to its difficult carbon fiber body, and the automaker plans to create 1,500 units over the span of three years. However, they are willing to increase the production units as per the demand of buyers. The luxury vehicle starts from $155,000 and can be booked by depositing $2,500.
Deliveries will begin near the end of this year. After its successful launch, we expect to see the Polestar 2 – a battery-electric compact sedan and the Polestar 3 – a battery-electric SUV. Unlike the Polestar1, the Polestar 2 is intended to be built at the Volvo Plant in Luqiao, China. We look forward to seeing these vehicles and find out how they fare against the likes of Tesla Model 3 and Model X.
Would Polestar hit the Gulf markets is still a mystery. Stay tuned for updated!
