Donkervoort is a Dutch track car company named after its founder. To commemorate his 70th birthday, the company planned to introduce Donkervoort JD70, where ‘JD’ stands for Joop Donkervoort, who started this venture in 1978.
Based on the Donkervoort’s D8 GTO, the track car will debut sometime next spring. It will carry the same 2.5L turbocharged inline-4 engine available in the D8 GTO, which creates the power of 400 horses. The company didn’t tell whether the Donkervoort JD70 will be more potent than the D8 GTO or not.
Either way, the 1,543 pounds JD70 will be very fast on its toes since the D8 GTO can hit 96.5 km/h in just 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 274 km/h. Expect the exact performance details before its debut.
Donkervoort plans to create just 70 units wearing an estimated price tag of $182,295. The company has opened the order book for interested customers.
