In February 2019, we published news about traffic fines settlement, where safe drivers could get a 100% waiver on their fines in Dubai. Six months have passed since the launch of this campaign, and Dubai Police told media that more than 425,000 motorists had the chance to get 50% discount. If they manage to drive safely without any fines for the next six months, they could get a 100% waiver on Dubai traffic fines.

The Dubai traffic fines settlement campaign is bearing fruits as the Emirate has seen a 14% drop in road accidents during the last six month compared to the same period the previous year.

“We also saw a drop of two percent in the number of traffic fines recorded during this period as compared to last year. This drop might seem small but assumes importance because the number of fines usually increases,” Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, assistant commander-in-chief for operations at the Dubai Police, stated.

Al Zafeen also told the media that they plan to introduce this initiative throughout the country if they could attain their goals.

“We will propose the scheme to the Federal Traffic Council. The Ministry of Interior will take the final call.”

It should be noted, “The initiative only applies to individuals who own vehicles and does not apply to vehicles registered to private companies, rental offices, and public or private transport companies.” Moreover, it does not include the fines imposed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Municipality.
