Volkswagen has introduced the new 2020 Passat for the Middle Eastern markets featuring a bolder design, improved technology, and updated driver assistance features. The midsize sedan will be available in three variants, namely Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline, to cater to the demands of different customers.

At the launch ceremony, Victor Dalmau, Managing Director for Volkswagen Middle East, stated: “The sedan market plays an important role in this region. Last year, the previous Passat model made up nearly 20% of Volkswagen Middle East total sales, highlighting the importance of sedan in this region and that this model is a popular choice for customers and businesses alike. So we are delighted to welcome a new and upgraded Passat – one of Volkswagen’s key iconic vehicles. It allows our customers to drive a premium German-engineered car at an affordable price and has long resonated with buyers for its combination of comfort, reliability, and driving dynamics.”

For the 2020 model year, Volkswagen improved the Passat inside and out. It features a dynamic coupe-like roofline, vivid “tornado” line, thin LED headlights and a dominant grille. The standard features include 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, full LED lighting, App-Connect, and Park Distance Control. On the other hand, the optional facilities comprise of 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and leather sport seating. All these optional features are standard in the Highline variant.

On the inside, the 2020 Passat has ample room and new instrument panel along with an updated infotainment touchscreen, which is compatible with Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect technology. The tech enables you to use Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, and MirrorLink®.

The power comes from a 2.5L EU4 engine that creates 170 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6 Speed automatic transmission. The Volkswagen 2020 Passat is accessible in Pure White Solid, Reflex Silver Metallic, Platinum Grey Metallic, Deep Black pearlescent and Tourmaline Blue metallic paint.

The price starts at AED 95,400 (Excluding VAT). The 2019 model costs AED 96,500.
