There is a new EV in town. Meet the 2020 Drako GTE, created by the new American automaker Drako. The automaker unveiled this electric hypercar yesterday at Pebble Beach with some mind-blowing performance figures.
Featuring four electric motors, the GTE can pump out a whopping 1,200 horsepower and 6,491 pound-feet (8,800 Newton-meters) of torque. That’s an insane amount of torque, which seems mythical. However, we understand that electric motors can offer instant torque, and seeing the car in action above, we feel the acceleration figures would be accurate. Hitting the throttle with full force will enable it to reach 332 km/h.
Drako created the car’s torque-vectoring algorithms at the Nurburgring, which make use of direct-drive transmission to send power to different wheels.
Seeing the car carefully, if you feel the 2020 Drako GTE has any resemblance with the Fisker Karma, you are right. It is built on the chassis offered by Fisker, and it can carry four passengers. The EV hypercar would use a 90 kWh battery to power the motors. The automaker did not reveal the driving range nor the charging times.
That said, we do know that it will be limited to only 25 units, each wearing a hefty price tag of $1.25 million. Drako plans to start development soon and make deliveries next year.
