A few days back, we informed that Abu Dhabi Police is taking strict actions against motorists who obstruct emergency vehicles and official convoys by charging them Dh1,000 fine and six black points. Well, the penalty has risen to Dh3,000, showing us the gravity of the situation.
Apart from this fine, the authorities will confiscate the vehicle for 30-days and charge six black points on the license.
Last month, the Ministry of Interior told the media that they have a plan to install cameras in the emergency vehicles, which will record videos of drivers who obstruct the ambulances, police, and official convoys. These cameras will be linked to the command room, making it easier for authorities to generate fines to lawbreakers.
This action is taken to improve response time to accidents and will minimize road deaths. In emergencies, a few seconds make a difference between life and death.
The authorities are urging motorists to make way for emergency vehicles, ambulances, and police. They have started awareness campaigns in different languages to make people aware of how necessary this action is to improve security and safety on the roads.
