SSC North America has finally decided to start the development of SSC Tuatara hypercar. It took the automaker almost a decade to make everything ready for production. The prototype of the Tuatara has been seen making test runs around SSC’s facility many times in the past few months. The deliveries will start in the third quarter of this year.

The good thing about the SSC Tuatara is in-house construction of most of its parts. Designed by famous designer Jason Castriota, it has got the lowest coefficient of drag for any performance vehicle in the market. Thanks to active and static wings, the Tuatara would have enough downforce to hit 300 mph and register itself in the Guinness World Records beating the 277.9 mph record made by a Koenigsegg Agera RS in 2017.

With a powerful in-house built 5.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-8, the hypercar can hit 60 mph in only 2.5 seconds and complete the quarter mile run in 9.75 seconds. SSC says it can generate a whopping 1,350 horsepower on pump gas and rise to even 1,750 horsepower with E85 fuel. The engine is paired with a 7-speed automated manual transmission obtained from Italy’s CIMA. The car weighs 2,750 pounds.

Inside, we see a 300 mph speedometer, a prominent touchscreen display to control most functions and a drive mode selector. It also features a Sport mode to give supreme track performance. Stay tuned as we bring you news on the first SSC Tuatara delivered to its owner.
