The British automaker has announced plans to introduce their first all-electric hypercar, the Lotus Type 130 at a private ceremony in Central London on 16 July. This will not only be the world’s first British all-electric hypercar but also the automaker’s first all-new model in more than a decade. The company has also released a teaser image and a video to give us a glimpse of the new Lotus.
The automaker first revealed their plans for an all-electric hypercar in April at the Shanghai International Auto Show. The attendees had shown a great interest in it and that encouraged the company to produce another World’s First. As the name suggests, it will be limited to 130 units, which also signifies the number of Lotus ‘Types’ the company has created in their entire history.
The Type 130 will be the best road car Lotus has ever produced considering the company’s extensive experience in automotive and motorsport. Not much is known right now, so we have to wait for the official unveiling to understand what this electric car has in store for us.
The company will develop the Lotus Type 130 at Hethel in Norfolk, and the deliveries will start in 2020.
