The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has bestowed the 2019 Kia Stinger with the Top Safety Pick+ rating, the highest award from the safety institute. However, this rating is pertinent only to Stingers featuring front crash prevention and LED headlight projectors.

Nevertheless, that does not mean the other variants of Stinger have done badly in the tests. All the ratings for crashworthiness were “Good”, as the car was considered safe in Forward Collisions tests carried at 12 mph and 25 mph.

The only issue comes with the standard halogen projector headlights, which are rated “Poor”. However, the static LED projector is rated “Good” while the curve-adaptive LED projector is rated “Acceptable.”

The 2019 Kia Stinger shares its platform with the Genesis G70, which also got the Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS. Therefore, this was pretty much on the cards for Stinger too. Both cars do well in the crash tests and this makes them a good option for motorists who buy cars not only on looks but also on car’s safety ratings.
