Volkswagen has shown the face of the first member of the new ID. family before its official launch at the IAA international motor show. Called ID.3, it donates two things. First, it belongs to the compact vehicle segment and second, it starts the third major chapter of the brand after the Beetle and the Golf. In the words of Volkswagen, ID. stands for smart styling, uniqueness, and creative techs.
“With the ID.3, we are starting from the center, the Volkswagen brand’s core, in which the majority of the models and sales volume can be found. The number 3 also signals expandability into the segments above and below it. We have a lot in the pipeline,” says Jürgen Stackmann, Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen Brand for Sales, Marketing & After Sales.
He was talking about Volkswagen’s e-mobility campaign where the brand is looking to take the top spot globally by 2025, offering over 20 fully electric cars. Volkswagen plans to sell over a million of these vehicles annually.
Every member of the family will bear the name ID. and will carry the brand’s e-mobility flag across the world.
After the official unveiling of the ID.3, we expect to see ID. CROZZ, ID. VIZZION and ID. ROOMZZ. All these have already been revealed in concept form and will get the model numbers before their official unveilings.
