Aston Martin’s electric future begins with the Rapide E officially debuting at the Shanghai Auto Show today. Created in partnership with Williams Advanced Engineering, both did their best to render the best performance possible. Unveiled by Aston Martin Executive Vice President & Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, the Aston Martin Rapide E is propelled by a 65-kWh battery powering the two electric motors on the rear axle. The motors jointly create 604 hp and 700 pound-feet of torque.

With this power, the fastback can hit 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. As per the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) cycle, it can deliver 200 miles range, which equates to around 180 miles in our numbers. The battery takes an hour to give 185 miles of range when hooked up to a 400V 50 kW power outlet.
The Rapide E will offer three driving modes – GT, Sport, and Sport + – to deliver the driving thrills Aston Martins are famous for.

On the inside, it features a 10-inch digital display and a dedicated app, which allows owners to remotely monitor key information of the vehicle.

The Aston Martin Rapide E has opened its order books; however, they will only reveal the price to the interested buyers. The automaker plans to produce only 155 units.
