At the 6th Middle East Car of the Year Awards, Renault reigned supreme winning multiple awards in different categories. The MECOTY 2019 was organized at the Al Ma’ared Hall, Adnec, Abu Dhabi, UAE, where best motoring minds came together to analyze the best characteristics of vehicles in different classes.
The MECOTY 2019 involved two types of awards; Jury Award and Public Award. As the name suggests, in the Jury Award, the board of judges picked the best car for each vehicle segment. On the other hand, in the Public Award, the public had to give their opinion on the Car of the Year.
The new Renault Duster received the esteemed MECOTY Public Award 2019 for its bold styling and off-road performance. Winning the C-segment was Renault Megane R.S., which was recently introduced in the Middle East (check review). It received the Jury Award for the Best Performance Hatchback. Built to pay homage to Renault’s racing heritage, the sporty hatchback is an equally capable car both on and off the track.
In the Electric Vehicle category, the Zoe Z.E. 40 stunned the Jury and charged to first place in the Electric Vehicles segment. This award shows Renault’s commitment to sustainable and environment-friendly future.
