Aston Martin DBX is the automaker’s first luxury SUV and they want it to handle every extreme condition with ease. To make it possible, Aston Martin recently chose Pirelli’s official test facility near the Arctic Circle in Sweden.
The facility offers a variety of severe conditions to test the Aston Martin DBX to its extreme. It presents snowy roads, ice routes and so on. The testing program is run by Aston Martin Chief Engineer, Matt Becker where Aston Martin Vehicle Dynamics team is working hard to improve the vehicle’s dynamics.
Becker said, “The Aston Martin DBX needs to be ready for a wide range of multi-terrain surfaces, so in addition to testing the car in normal day-to-day situations, we need to test it in extreme conditions such as these. Testing these prototypes in cold climate conditions helps us to assess the car’s early dynamics and crucially ensure confidence inspiring sure-footedness on low grip surfaces. This car propels Aston Martin into a new segment and our engineering team is enjoying the challenges of developing a quality luxury SUV experience through this robust testing schedule. Progress is on-track and I am confident that we will deliver over and above what our customers would expect from an Aston Martin SUV.”
The automaker will first create the prototypes of Aston Martin DBX in summers this year. The complete production will start sometime in 2020.
