Citroën has introduced a small electric car named Ami One Concept, which will make its first public appearance at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show. The concept car looks similar to Renault Twizy. The vehicle’s small size and low power would land it in a segment that might not need a license to drive it in select regions.
The Ami One Concept makes itself different from the Twizy with an enclosed cabin. We do not know much except that it will be only around 8 feet long and would weigh less than 1,000 pounds. Its battery is powerful enough to cover 100 km on a single charge. The top speed is limited to just 45 km/h. A full charge requires 2 hours of time.
It has a ‘Drive-Pod’ in front for driving. The driver will be able to control some functions through the dedicated apps too. There will be head-up display kind of functionality available for this. Citroën is planning to offer on-demand car-sharing service with this allowing people to use it for hours and days.
It is true it might not work for people in the U.S. but it could be a practical option in congested European cities. We are also not sure of its arrival in the UAE. Maybe it could serve well the visitors for sightseeing. Citroën has a very limited presence in the region.
