Soon after introducing the 2019 Acadia in the Middle East, the GMC Global wing unveiled the 2020 Acadia featuring a new look, smarter tech, a new turbo engine, and updated GMC infotainment system. The new Acadia will be available in SLE, SLT and Denali grades. Additionally, for offroad enthusiasts, the American automaker has updated the AT4 models. The crossover comes in five, six and seven-passenger configurations.
“The 2020 Acadia is stylish, functional and capable with more of the smart convenience and connectivity features that customer rely on every day,” stated Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global GMC. “And with GMC’s signature refinement at its core, the new Acadia advances the brand’s commitment to offering premium vehicles for discerning crossover customers.”
“With technological enhancements at your fingertips and under the hood, the 2020 Acadia is an intelligent crossover that elevates the driving and passenger experiences on all fronts,” said Aldred. “That makes it a smart choice all around.”
The 2020 Acadia makes itself different from its predecessor with a new grille, new front, and rear fascias and GMC’s signature C-shaped lighting. Furthermore, the AT4 distinguishes itself with a black chrome-accented grille and a rugged, off-road-inspired design. The AT4 carries a 3.6L V-6 engine creating 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. It gets a twin-clutch AWD system, exclusive 17-inch wheels, and all-terrain tires as standard. There is also an option of 20-inch wheels.
Other improvements consist of new 18- and 20-inch wheel styles depending on the trim; outside mirrors with integrated LED turn signals (power-folding facility regular on Denali and accessible on SLT variant); hands-free power liftgate with GMC logo projection standard on SLT, AT4 and Denali; updated center console with improved storage space; and exclusive Denali interior color pattern with new, open-pore wood decor.
GMC has also introduced a new 2.0L turbo engine, which will power the SLT and Denali models. It churns out 230 horsepower (172 kW) and 258 lb-ft of torque (350 Nm). Another standard engine option is 2.5L I4. All the engines support stop/start deactivation switch.
Another new to the 2020 Acadia is a nine-speed automatic transmission, which is standard across the range. It replaces the old six-speed automatic, offering better acceleration and reduced engine noise.
To make things roomy on the center console, GMC has now offered Electronic Precision Shift. This electronically controlled gear selection comprises of instinctive push buttons and pull triggers.
One of the biggest changes in 2020 Acadia comes in form of new infotainment system. Featuring an 8-inch diagonal screen, it is cleverer than before offering better voice recognition, a higher resolution touchscreen, and user-friendly interface. The system offers users to create their personal profile by customizing the audio, navigation and climate settings. The user can share their profile with compatible infotainment systems from GM. Moreover, the user can create up to four different profiles.
Some other additions on the 2020 Acadia include next-generation, 15-watt wireless charging, High Definition Rear Vision Camera upgraded to digital (standard on SLT, AT4 or Denali and accessible on SLE), New Rear Camera Mirror accessible on Denali, eBoost brake system standard on variants featuring the 2.0L Turbo engine, and suspension enhancements that improve ride and control.
The 2020 GMC Acadia will hit the roads by the end of this year. GMC will reveal price details closer to the launch.
