The launch of Audi’s first all-electric vehicle followed with the automaker’s wish to get feedback of motorheads from all around the world. For this reason, they invited them to take part in the first official media drive of Audi E-Tron in Abu Dhabi.
As we can see in the video, the Audi E-Tron has stayed true to its segment and didn’t follow the electric car designs most other automakers do. In fact, Audi owners will not even feel a difference here meaning it truly drives and sounds like an Audi.
Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform, it has two electric motors, one on the front and other on the rear. The front motor creates 168 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque while the rear one adds 188 horsepower and 232 lb-ft. Do not expect the acceleration of the Tesla Model X with the ludicrous mode, however, changing the gear selector to Sport can increase the power output a bit. With boost mode, the electric crossover can hit 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.
Audi confirms that the vehicle can cover 323 km on a single charge. Astonishingly, the charging rate is up to 150 kW. At a charging station equipped with an active cooling cable, the car can add 160 miles of range in around half an hour.
The starting price in the US is $74,800 before incentives. The price for UAE is not announced yet. We will come back with a full review once the car becomes available here.
