Mercedes-Benz recently released a teaser image of the redesigned CLA scheduled for unveiling at the 2019 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month. The car’s delivery to showrooms will take place in summer 2020, and will act as a casual version of the A-class sedan organized for launching in 2019.
The redesigned CLA class is depicted in the teaser image with a curvier, smoother body similar, to an extent, to the latest CLS model. However, it is allegedly larger, longer and has a more powerful engine as well as other features that differentiate it from the A-class sedan.
Mercedes may add more length to the wheelbase to enhance accommodation for passengers as well as supply a smoother driving experience. According to the automaker, the vehicle will also be equipped with a refined, newer version of the infotainment system MBUX, which was launched in the A-class sedan. Interior-wise, the restyled vehicle gets high-quality materials with a better finish.
In the power and performance department, the standard engine choice for the U.S. is the M260 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine, which supplies 188 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. The redesigned CLA will also offer an all-wheel-drive system and a contemporary electronically controlled drift mode. Structurally, the redesigned CLA model is based on the MFA2 front-wheel driving platform, which is another similarity it shares with the A-class sedan.
The 2019 CLA Class is estimated to cost $33,000 (the current model sells at AED 160,750). For an exact price, we will have to wait for the 2019 CES. Mercedes will also release the 2020 EQC electric SUV and the Vision Urbanetic concept van locally at the electronic show.
