Aston Martin has finally revealed a few details about the Valkyrie V12 naturally aspirated engine, which was developed with the help of the company’s old technical associate, Cosworth. The V12 engine was designed as an Internal Combustion Engine from the very start since the hypercar demanded an engine that could offer performance like no other.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is powered by a 6.5 liter V12 ICE capable of yielding 740 Newton meter torque and 1,000 brake horsepower with a maximum of 11,100 revolutions per minute. The engine’s performance is further augmented by a battery hybrid system, a 7-speed paddle shift transmission. The billet-maintained crankshaft is fifty percent lighter than the one present in Aston Martin One 77‘s V12 engine which was once the most powerful ICE car engine in the world.

The engine is made out of solid metals such as Titanium conrods, instead of metal alloys that contribute to keeping the overall engine weight lower. However, the Valkyrie V12 engine components are designed to add maximum strength to the engine, which weighs only 206 kg.

The Aston Martin V12 engine brings back memories of the high RPM F1TM  engines of the 1990s but combines twenty years’ worth of knowledge about designing, materials, and manufacturing to develop an engine that is one of a kind in both design and performance.

Aston Martin will create only 150 units, which are already pre-sold for a price of $3.2 million each. The customers will start receiving their hypercars from next year.
