Ford unveiled the Mustang 50th anniversary Cobra Jet at the 2018 SEMA show to commemorate the model’s birth. The drag race car development team has been working hard for decades bringing something exciting after every few years. From 2008, new models were coming regularly though.
Peaking under the hood, we find a heavy 5.2L supercharged V8 engine, which enables the 50th anniversary Cobra Jet to complete the quarter-mile run in just 8.0 seconds. And as the car completes the quarter mile, it hits 150 mph on the speedometer.
Obviously, the 2018 Cobra will not be street legal. The drag race car is equipped with an NHRA-certified roll cage, FIA-rated seats, and a brawny Ford 9-inch hard rear axle. Ford is only making 68 units and it will not come cheap. The price will reportedly hover around $130,000.
The 2018 SEMA show has brought to us some exciting drag racers. We already discussed eCOPO Camaro electric drag racer concept a few days ago, and we also know the Mopar Hellephant crate engine is a perfect option for a drag race car. The 2018 Cobra Jet is certainly something, which won’t disappoint you.
