Lexus has introduced their first luxury yacht LY 650, which will join the LS sedan, LX SUV and LC coupé as the fourth Lexus flagship. The first production maritime expression of Lexus design language, L-finesse is a 65-foot yacht, initially revealed in March at a boat show in Yokohama, Japan. The LY 650 will be available in the United States from next year. We do not know anything about pricing right now.
The idea of a luxury yacht from an automotive brand is not new. Aston Martin introduced its AM37 at the 2016 Monaco Yacht Show, Mercedes-Benz brought Arrow 460-GT in February 2018 at the same show, and Bugatti already sells limited-edition Bugatti Niniette luxury yacht.
The first luxury yacht LY 650 from Lexus is built in collaboration with Marquis-Larson Boat Group. It features 18.8-foot beam, 1,800 horsepower power unit, three staterooms with private baths, quarters for the crew, and a primary deck surrounded by windows. It can accommodate up to 15 persons.
Toyota Executive Vice President Shigeki Tomoyama was eager to “present a dream-like vision of the luxury lifestyle; one where the Lexus Yacht expands the potential of Lexus mobility to the ocean.”
Working hard on its lifestyle concept, Lexus has also opened a store in New York City’s Meatpacking District in August. The luxury brand calls it “Intersect by Lexus”. It is a 16,500-square-foot shop where customers can “experience the carmaker’s brand without setting foot inside a car.” This is the third lifestyle store by Lexus encompassing a replacing line-up of chefs, a cafe and coffee bar and a retail space retailing lavish home merchandise.
