The Sharjah police rescued a man traveling to Dubai from Sharjah through the Emirates Road, whose vehicle’s cruise control stopped working and was jammed at 140 km/h. The Command and Control Centre (C3) called Police Patrol to tackle the situation.

The Security Media director at Dubai Police, Colonel Faisal Eisa, was told that a vehicle on the highway malfunctioned as its cruise control jammed.

The C3 staff immediately reached out to the driver and provided him the instructions to contain the situation. The event was scary and confusing for the driver, which disabled him from responding suitably. Meanwhile, two police patrols cleared the road for him by accompanying the vehicle driving along both sides. Ultimately, crashing the car from behind was the only resort they had to stop the car.

The driver was lucky enough to stop the car and once he got out safe, he was given first aid and was helped in processing the shock of the horrifying episode.

Information on the vehicle’s brand and model is still not clear. However, UAE has had several reported incidents in the last 2 years. In May, a US automaker asked drivers of some of their old models not to employ cruise control as it can stick.
