Similar to Uber and Careem, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Sharjah offers click-a-taxi service, which operates by clicking a button on a special gadget. The click generates a connection with the nearest cab and shows the customer the number plate and the expected time. The service is now available across fifty-seven locations in Sharjah after an increased demand from customers said by Sheikh Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, director of the franchise and licensure department.

The service has been around for last 3 years and was previously called Taxi Click. “The Taxi Click service is meant to save time and ensure the convenience of the passengers, particularly at crowded places such as hospitals, shopping centers, and government departments,” Al Qasimi added.

Click-a-taxi service is exclusive to RTA Sharjah and it has been growing in popularity since the start of this year. In the last nine months, 25,000 passengers used it.
