The Bugatti Divo supercar is here finally wearing an exorbitant price tag of €5 million. The automaker will only build 40 examples and all of them are already spoken for, which means any of you reading this will not be able to purchase it until it pops up in any showroom after a few years. Bugatti unveiled it during 2018 Monterey Car Week.
The Divo has some similarities with the Bugatti Chiron, especially when it comes to its engine but the whole idea behind the Divo is a bit different. The Divo shares the Chiron’s 8.0-liter W16 engine but it manages to stay lighter than the Chiron. The car is 77 pounds lighter and it makes 198 pounds of extra downforce. The Divo is made to conquer corners unlike the Chiron, which is all about top speed. To this regard, the Divo has a maximum speed of 236 mph against 260 mph of Chiron.
“To date, a modern Bugatti has represented a perfect balance between high performance, straight-line dynamics and luxurious comfort,” said Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann. “Within our possibilities, we have shifted the balance in the case of the Divo further towards lateral acceleration, agility, and cornering. The Divo is made for bends.”
The Bugatti Divo gets a brand new front spoiler, which creates more downforce for the supercar. The rear spoiler alone is 6 feet wide and acts as an airbrake for the car. The Divo gets special suspension settings and lightweight components that allow it to move through corners a lot quicker. The light wheels, carbon fiber intercooler, lighter sound system, and movable front diffuser all work to that effect.
All these adjustments and additions allow the Divo to complete the Nardo circuit in under 8 seconds faster than the Chiron. The Divo is more about practicality compared to its predecessors.
