Hennessey Performance Engineering has confirmed that their Hennessey Venom F5 will get an extremely capable engine under its hood. The company first displayed their car about a year ago and now the specifications are coming through. Hennessey Performance talked about engine during the Monterey Car Week held last week at Pebbles Beach, California.
Hennessey told that their Venom F5 will have a 7.6-liter dual turbocharged V8 that could make more than 1,600 horsepower and 1,300 lb-ft of torque. This power is higher than the Bugatti Chiron and Regra. Only the Croatian Rimac C_Two makes more horsepower which clocks at 1,914 hp but remember, it is an electric car.
Hennessey has built this internal combustion engine using aluminum and steel to reduce its weight. The engine will run at 9.3:1 compression ratio and handle 24 psi of boost that comes from ball bearing turbochargers. The engine also runs on a dry sump oiling system allowing it to sit snuggly on the chassis.
It took Hennessey more than 2 years to develop this engine and perfect it with the help of Shell and Pennzoil. The engine has been tailor-made to run on Pennzoil’s 10W-60 Full Synthetic Oil and Shell’s V-Power Nitro+ gasoline.
Hennessey is looking to shatter the speed record for a production car by reaching 301 mph with their F5. Only 25 examples will be made of which 15 have already been accounted for.
