Most readers would agree with us on the fact that Ford’s previous NASCAR entries were not very visually impressive. They were based on the Ford Fusion family car but this time the NASCAR Mustang is getting a chance as evident from the images released earlier last week. This car will take part in the race for the first time at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series which will be held in February 2019 at the Daytona 500 circuit.
Ford has inaugurated the car for their own employees at their headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. “We look forward to seeing the Ford Mustang, a cultural icon, on the track in the most competitive series in all of the motorsports,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR’s head of racing development, in a release. “Our sport eagerly anticipates the performance, style, and fanfare the Mustang will bring to the track each weekend beginning at the 2019 Daytona 500.”
The American automotive brand said that designers have worked day and night to ensure the sports car look appealing and dominating. Its styling had to be on point and look like a generic Mustang rather than a regular sports car.
“Ever since we announced in April that Mustang would be going to the Cup level in 2019, we’ve heard nothing but positive feedback,” said Mark Rushbrook, Ford’s global head of motorsports. “Our Ford Performance team has worked hard with the Fo
rd Design team to create a NASCAR Mustang that will be competitive on the track while remaining true to its proud heritage. We can’t wait to see it winning races in the NASCAR Cup Series next year.”
