The seventh generation 2019 Lexus ES is out and it’s a bit more expensive than the outgoing model. The new ES costs $40,525 for the base model, which is $550 more expensive than the 2018 model.

The new Lexus houses a 3.5-liter V6 engine which makes 302 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. The engine is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Lexus did not hint at any plans on adding an all-wheel drive to its ES roster, which means the upcoming sedan could accelerate only using the front wheels. It is confirmed that all the models will receive the Lexus Safety System suite which includes automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition and rear seat passenger detection. Inside, customers will get the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay being introduced for the very first time.

The 2019 Lexus ES will also have a hybrid version, ES 300h, which will be cheaper than 2018’s hybrid. The EPA rates the 2019 ES 300h at 43 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway, while the combined mileage is 44 mpg. This healthy rating makes the hybrid model stand out as the best non-plug-in hybrid in terms of mileage.

Lexus has also added an F Sport variant this time which will start at a price of $45,060.

The new Lexus ES will go on sale in autumn this year.
