Toyota has two performance sub-brands TRD and GR, while TRD has been replaced with GR in most countries, Toyota likes to continue with TRD in the United States. Reinforcing the TRD brand, Toyota has released the 86 TRD Special Edition in the USA as part of the 2019 Toyota 86 line-up.

This 2019 TRD Special Edition will be the fastest 86 thanks to the range of upgrades. The upgrades to the suspension include SACHS dampers, BREMBO brakes and 18-inch rims sporting Michelin Sports 4 tires. Other than that, the special edition car gets a TRD body kit, TRD exhaust, TRD decals, scarlet red seatbelts and red stitching to match. In fact, red highlights can be found all over the interior.

The 86 TRD will have a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 205 hp and 156 lb-ft torque. Customers can opt for either a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission giving life to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential. Although the engine remains the same, buyers have an option to add a turbocharger to the mix.

The 2019 Toyota 86 TRD Special Edition will go on sale in August at a price of $32,420, and only 1,418 units shall be made.
