Motorists have to be light on the speed pedal from August 12 as Abu Dhabi Police has reduced speed limits on internal and external roads. Besides that, the grace limit has been abolished completely.
Major General Mohammad Khalfan Al Romaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, told the media that they have taken this decision considering traffic congestion on different roads and the number of accidents. The authorities are also starting awareness campaigns for motorists to educate them on the reduced speed limits and the removal of speed buffer.

Presently, the drivers can enjoy the 20 kilometer per hour speed buffer on any road meaning on a road with 120 kilometer per hour speed limit, motorists can cruise to 140 kilometer per hour. They won’t get a ticket until they touch 141 kilometer per hour.
Hopefully, the new speed limit will bring a positive change on the road reducing accidents as well as congestion on the road. This is not the first time Abu Dhabi Police reduced speed limits, they previously did it for Al Mafraq – Al Ghuwaifat Road in January 2018.
