Mulliner, Bentley’s personal commissioning division, has created a special wood veneer that will be available in Bentley Flying Spur, Bentayga, and Mulsanne models. The new wood finish is made from a unique open-pore Walnut wood that comes from a rare hybrid of American and European Walnut.

The woodwork is all handmade and finished to perfection by expert craftsmen working at Bentley’s England factories. These special trees grow in California where the team makes regular visits, ensuring only the best wood gets through to production. Once the veneer is extracted, it is coated in three thin layers of lacquer which add only 0.1 mm to the thickness of the wood. All three layers are rubbed by hand and then the wood veneer is waxed, bringing out the true color of the open-pore Walnut.

The intricate process ensures customers can feel every crevice and rivet on the wood, unlike wood paneling found in other vehicles that look and feel artificial. This means every veneer is unique and feels different.
