Al-Futtaim Toyota, the official distributor of Toyota vehicles in the UAE and the promotor of sustainable mobility, has delivered 454 Toyota Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) to Arabia Taxi, a member of Arabia Holdings Group of companies and one of the UAE’s biggest taxi operators. This delivery is a part of 1000 Toyota cars deal which includes Camry HEV, Prius, and petrol engine Camry.
The Camry HEV will deliver 26 km/L fuel economy as well as will save about 88 tons of CO2 throughout its lifecycle.
Speaking at the event, Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Toyota stated: “Arabia Taxi has been our loyal partner since 2005 and among the early adopters of our efficient and responsible HEV mobility solutions. They had previously ordered a fleet of 50 Prius, making them the first taxi fleet operator in the UAE to use a Prius in their ranks. With the great fuel and CO2 savings that their new green fleet presents, Arabia Taxi will undeniably be one of the major enablers of the sustainability targets set within the UAE Vision 2021”.
PSM Habibullah Khan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Arabia Holdings also expressed: “The Toyota Camry has proven its credentials not only in the UAE but the world over. The new green fleet which makes up 45% of our new Toyota order, will help us speed up the cycle of reaching the UAE Vision 2021 goals of a more sustainable society while offering our customers enjoyable and smooth rides”.
The Toyota Camry was first introduced in 1982 and has seen the continuous evolution over the years. The new model offers 70% better fuel efficiency. Furthermore, the world’s first mass-produced hybrid vehicle (petrol-electric) Prius has already won many awards for its fuel efficiency. The inclusion of 454 Toyota cars in Arabia taxi fleet will not only save money for the company but will also contribute to the environment a great deal.
