We know that Dodge’s SRT Demon is a drag-strip racer right off the bat. Now Ford is jumping in with the 2018 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, their 50th-anniversary gift for fans. The only difference is that the Cobra Jet will not be street legal.
Ford is commemorating the 1968 Mustang Cobra Jet’s model year and will build only 68 examples of this supercar. The car also honors racer Bob Tasca and for that reason, customers will be able to select from the Mustang Cobra Jet in Race Red and Oxford White colors, which were emblazoned on Bob’s 1968 original Cobra Jet.
The car will receive a unique graphics package with a cobra on the rear wing of the car and the word ‘Mustang’ written on the bumper in the front. New badges will also be added to make the 2018 Cobra Jet look special.
Underneath the hood of this drag-strip killer is a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that covers the quarter mile drag strip in about 8.0 seconds while clocking in at 150 mph. Furthermore, the car has a 9-inch rear axle installed, a roll cage, special seats and front suspension to make it race specific.
Ford hasn’t released the price of the 2018 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet. We believe it might border $100,000 bracket.
