The Ford vs Ferrari rivalry is set to come alive on screens with renowned actor Matt Damon taking the role of Caroll Shelby. Earlier, in 2013, it was decided that Tom Cruise would play this part as he already has some experience playing a race car driver but the plan has been changed for this unnamed movie project.
Mr. James Mangold will be directing the film which will be set in the 1960s and showcase the competition between Ford and Ferrari during the 1966 24 hour Le Mans endurance race. The legendary race saw the Ford GT40 dominating by taking the first 3 positions in the race.
Earlier, the Ford vs Ferrari movie was to be inspired from the book by A.J. Baime titled ‘Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans.’ However, this book is being adapted into a television series. As for the film, screenplay writers, Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, will jot up a story.
The stellar cast will be completed with Christian Bale playing Shelby’s friend Ken Miles while Jon Bernthal, will play Lee Iacocca.
