BMW has finally revived the 8-series. The 2019 BMW 8 Series coupe was unveiled just before the start of this year’s prestigious 24 hour Le Mans endurance race held in France. Fortunately, the 4WD M850i xDrive looks much like its concept version which was released last year in May.
The exterior of the coupe is inspired by the 8 Series BMW of the past that had an elongated hood and a sleek laid-back roofline. The BMW signature kidney grille is hard to miss and so are the slim and wide aggressive LED headlights that come with the BMW LaserLight technology. The long wheelbase joins the front end to the rear where we see beautiful LED taillights and a mean looking dual exhaust.
The sporty interior is graced with brand-new Merino leather seats, customizable ambient lighting and a Harman Kardon sound system which can be upgraded to a 1,375-watt Bowers & Wilkins Diamond sound system.
Underneath the hood is a fresh 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 engine that makes 523 horsepower in the 5,500 to 6,000 rpm range and 553 lb-ft of torque from 1,800 to 4,600 rpm. The high torque V8 is teamed with an 8-speed Steptronic Sports gearbox to help the car accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds going on to the top speed of 155 mph.
The pricing details for the 2019 BMW 8 Series coupe will be released close to its production date.
