Tesla hasn’t been able to attract many customers toward the Model 3 since its release. Sensing the drop in sales, chief Elon Musk decided to create the Tesla Model 3 Performance version to enhance customer response. It has hardly been a month since Tesla opened bookings for the performance version and finally the first car rolled out of factories. The deliveries were supposed to happen in July but Tesla this time exceeded expectations.

This amazing feat was achieved owing to a new assembly line that was literally built under a tent with minimum resources. The tent-like structure can be seen in the image tweeted by Elon Musk. Musk previously stated that the Tesla Model 3 Performance version will go into production once Tesla starts making 5,000 cars a week and it seems that has been achieved.

Although the AWD Dual Motor variant will not bring better mileage, it will certainly be faster than the base version. The Dual Motor AWD version is one second faster than the standard version. It does not look big on paper but the difference is huge. The 3.5 second acceleration from naught to 60 mph goes onto a top speed of 155 mph against the base version’s 4.5 and 140 mph.

Tesla didn’t reveal pricing details for the performance version but we do know that AWD system adds $5,000 to the total. Hopefully, the performance version will also hit UAE roads soon.
