Suzuki Japan has officially revealed 2019 Suzuki Jimny images along with some key details of the boxy, retro and quasi-military styled vehicle. The all-wheel-drive vehicle will be available in 8 colors with “Kinetic Yellow” the main highlight of the all-new model. The new Jimny will be accessible in both one-tone and two-tone options.
Inside, it will be carrying some old generation elements in shape of a horizontal grab handle in front of the passenger and square instrument housings ahead of the driver. It will be featuring a big touchscreen infotainment system, as shown in the image below.
Those who love Jimny for its off-road prowess would be happy to see the old ladder frame chassis with a longitudinal engine and drivetrain which sends power to live axles.
In Japan, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny will be offered in two body configurations; a kei-class version and a wide-body “Jimny Sierra”. The former will carry a modest 660cc turbo triple while the latter will have a 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Both engines will either be mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The vehicle will come equipped with the autonomous emergency braking system.
Michael Pachota, head of Suzuki in Australia said, “We would very much welcome the introduction of [the new] Jimny this year, We’ve put in a request with Suzuki Motor Corporation to have that vehicle as soon as possible.”
Once ready, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny will sell around the low-to-mid $20K bracket. The range-topping variant will be available in the upper-20K region.
