The 2019 Audi Q8 coupe SUV was officially released at the Audi Brand Summit in China. It was revealed in concept form at the start of 2017. Audi’s first ever coupe-SUV comes out to tackle competition from the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe. The SUV is better in all aspects compared to the flagship Q7. It’s 6.4 feet long, 6.6 feet wide, 5.6-feet tall, and it has a bigger wheelbase that measures 9.8 feet. The Q8 replaces the Audi Q7 as the flagship SUV.
The Q8 which is based on the Lamborghini Urus platform looks ready to for the kill, with its large wheels, spoiler, and the door’s silver trim. The recently popular LED headlights grace the front with a unique looking grille. As an upgrade to the exterior, 22-inch rims and LED Matrix headlights are on offer.
Pop open the hood and there is a 3.0-liter V6 engine making 340 horsepower, which is slightly more powerful than Q7’s powertrain, thanks to a 48V mild hybrid unit. This unit has a tiny lithium-ion battery that gathers up to 12 kW of power from braking, which it later uses to aid in acceleration and saving valuable fuel. Thankfully, for off-road fans, all Q8’s are 4WD, plus they come with an all-wheel steering option.
The interior is graced with a standard 10.1-inch upper display and an 8.6-inch lower display. A 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display comes standard across all trims which can be upgraded to the ‘plus’ version for a sporty touch.
The 2019 Audi Q8 coupe SUV goes on sale in the last half of 2018 with pricing to be announced near the start of production.
