After its successful testing and proven track record, Al-Futtaim Toyota has introduced Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) for individual customers in the UAE. Bear in mind, Al-Futtaim launched this model in 2008 and offered it to only fleet operators. They used the car in hot conditions of the Emirates and found it extremely reliable. After a successful feedback, the official Toyota distributor in the UAE officially introduced it in 2012.
Talking at the launching event, Suzan Kazzi, Head of Corporate Communications at Al-Futtaim Toyota said: “ Camry HEV has been leading the sustainable mobility march since 2008, being the first marque that pioneered the HEV technology in the UAE. With thousands of the previous generation Camry HEVs crossing collectively over 100 million KM through taxi fleets, Camry HEV saved collectively over 6000 tons of CO2 in the UAE, contributing to the cumulative 90 million tons of CO2 reduction generated by the global sales of 11.47 million electrified Toyota vehicles .”
The all-new Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle offers better quality, durability, and reliability thanks to Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. This class-leading platform is built keeping in mind the quality, safety, and performance.
The new Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle retains a 2.5L petrol engine which renders 70% better fuel efficiency. The engine is assisted by two electric motors. Both the engine and electric motors work together to generate 208 horsepower. The drivetrain includes an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (e-CVT) that offers smooth gear shifting, replicating a six-speed sequential shift transmission to deliver a new level of driving experience.
The Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle allows drivers to either use all-electric or hybrid option. As the name implies, choosing the all-electric provides zero emissions while running on hybrid takes petrol engine and two electric motors into account. The car switches between the petrol engine and electric motors automatically depending on certain factors. The batteries get charged as the car decelerates or when brakes are applied.
“We feel very proud to know that the Camry HEV has been playing an active role in enabling the UAE Vision 2021, and realizing the sustainability targets set by the visionary UAE Government. We believe HEV is a real, practical solution for today’s environmental problems, posing no uncertainties or hesitations at all. With 26KM/L, Camry HEV runs like the petrol engine Camry, except that it drives more for less fuel and less CO2 emissions” Kazzi added.
The all-new Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle gives a touch of luxury with its unique styling and comfort. The advanced facilities comprise a wireless charging system for smartphones, dual-zone automatic air conditioning system, six-speaker sound system, multi-adjustable power front seats, and 60/40 split and reclining rear seats, and much more.
To boost the driving experience, the new Camry offers 2 interlinked displays; a seven-inch multi-information display within the instrument cluster, and an eight-inch audio/navigation control panel that is placed in the center console in a stylish way.
Toyota has been improving safety tech throughout its model range and Camry is no exception. The HEV brings on the table modern safety technologies which include six SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), in addition to an improved body structure and platform structure, and so on.
The new Toyota Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle gives customers a number of choices to express their personality. It gives 8 exterior and 3 interior color choices. Interested customers can buy it for AED 133,500 (VAT included).
