Earlier this year, the German automaker Porsche revealed its racetrack-demon, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The mean looking sports car is capable of producing a whopping 514 hp but it seems Porsche is not stopping at that figure. Porsche is now bringing a freshly brewed formula for customer teams.
Customer sports car teams competing in the FIA GT3 in 2019 will have access to the 911 GT3 R. It has a 4.0-liter 6-cylinder engine helped by direct fuel injection and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology. The beasty engine makes 550 hp, however, it might not be allowed to use all that power courtesy FIA’s race regulations. Porsche claims that the new 911 GT3 reacts faster than the older 500 hp predecessor, thanks to the 6-speed sequential transmission and six brand-new throttle butterflies.
The weight holds great significance in race cars and while Porsche hasn’t released any weight figures it has made efforts to reduce the overall tonnage. The car has lightweight polycarbonate windows and carbon-fiber roof, front hood, wheel arches, doors, and interior bits. The expansive rear spoiler helps add downforce at high speeds.
The car also sports new wishbone suspension and larger tires. Moreover, to bring the car to a halt quickly, 6-piston front calipers and steel discs have been installed at the front while 4-piston calipers and steel discs are placed in the rear axle.
There is an AC for the first time ever in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS as well as revamped seats. Some extra features are available for pre-install that include a heated windshield, a sensor package, and an FIA endurance kit. Buyers will be able to get their hands on the car by December after paying 459,000 euros.
