South Korea’s premium automaker Genesis released its compact G70 sedan in the Middle East a couple of weeks back. In doing so, Genesis has expanded its sedan offerings which already consist of the G90, G80, and G80 Sport sedans. The Genesis G70 is designed keeping in mind the tastes of the younger generation who seek for something different. The Gensis G70 is the depiction of Genesis’s rapidly evolving DNA, which is a new approach toward exterior styling as well as interior beautification and modernization. It is available in two engine options.
“Genesis has been very well received in the Middle East, and the Genesis G70 will be an exciting new chapter in our story,” said Altar Yilmaz, Genesis General Manager for Africa and Middle East region. “For many of our potential customers, this is the Genesis they have been waiting for.”
The G70’s introduction to showrooms comes after its display at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show. Genesis hopes that with the G70 they can capture the compact luxury sedan market as they already have a respectable and loyal customer base for their mid-sized G80 and the large G90.
Exterior
The Genesis G70 follows Genesis’s new styling cues which are based on the ‘Athletic Elegance’ philosophy. The result is a sport luxury sedan with an appearance that exudes confidence. The crest-type grille, prominent air intakes, and flashy lines create dominance. The LED headlights and taillights are unique and the rear lights look like they are an evolution of the G80’s taillights.
The seats have been adjusted to lower the center of gravity of the G70 to improve handling and performance of the sedan. To augment the driving experience, the Active Sound Design (ASD) system creates an aural character that
Interior
The interior has been perfected to give a pleasurable experience. The dashboard is graced by an 8-inch touchscreen display that supports MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. To enjoy favorite tunes, a 15-speaker Lexicon surround-sound system is provided.
There is ample space in the compact sedan with plenty of headroom and legroom for tall individuals to fit easily. When it comes to gadgets and entertainment, the car has been fitted with user-friendly and useful technologies. The focus is on accessibility, not on unnecessary glamour. In short, it meets all your modern needs without overdoing it.
Performance
There are two drivetrain options available for Middle Eastern customers. Customers can choose from either a 3.3-liter V6 petrol turbo or a 2.0-liter I4 petrol turbo. The Lambda II 3.3-liter V6 turbo GDI engine is the powerhouse behind the Genesis G70 Sport, which makes 370 PS and a maximum torque of 510 N.m. The 0 to 100 km/h is achievable in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 270 km/h. Being the smaller of the two, the Theta-II 2.0-liter turbo GDI engine generates a respectable 252 PS and a maximum torque of 353 N.m.
Furthermore, there is Launch Control to help with the acceleration, a rack-mounted motor-driven power steering (R-MDPS), improved responsive suspension, and mechanical limited slip differential (M-LSD) to further enhance handling and response.
Safety
The G70 also excels in its safety features. The cage of the sedan has been strengthened by the use of advanced components and seven airbags are installed to keep you safe in the event of an accident. Furthermore, modern drive-assist features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Driver Awareness Warning (DAW) are added for your safety.
