Volkswagen has entered the list of automakers that have introduced a sub-brand specifically for the Chinese market. The German automaker introduced the SOL electric vehicle brand at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. The first vehicle to come out of the house of SOL will be an SUV which goes by the name E20X.
The SOL brand has been created by VW in cooperation with its Chinese partner JAC – Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Corp. This is the reason, the E20X looks similar to one of JAC’s existing vehicles. Although JAC already has an electric SUV by the name of iEV7S as part of its fleet, it is not surprising that JAC would partner with the auto giant VW to boost sales and profits for JAC.
No details have been released regarding the E20X’s powertrain but it is known that the battery could last for 186 miles on a single charge. Furthermore, the SUV will have the latest technologies including the AI features.
Volkswagen has also planned another model in cooperation with JAC and Zheijang Tmall Technology Company. The E20X by SOL electric vehicle brand will go on sale later this year.
