The latest model of the Ford F-150 was announced earlier in 2018 and at that time Ford had given a nod for a diesel variant of the truck. Details for the Ford F-150 Power Stroke Diesel have finally been revealed.

Earlier the company had given a rough estimate of the performance figures. The diesel variant was supposed to have a brand-new 3.0-liter V-6 turbocharged engine making 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. It was also claimed that the heavy-duty truck shall have the best fuel economy in its respective class and the highest towing capacity beating the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. Thanks to official figures, the real story has been put forward and the news is promising.

The new Ford F-150 Power Stroke Diesel will have a 22 mpg rating in the city and 30 mpg on the highway giving it a combined efficiency rating of 25 mpg, as conferred by The Environmental Protection Agency. The Power Stroke smashes Ram’s fuel efficiency rating which runs at 20/27/23 mpg for city/highway/combined.

The impressive highway rating of 30 mpg makes the F-150 Power Stroke Diesel the first large truck to achieve this economy. The Lariat, King Ranch, Lariat SuperCab and SuperCrew trims will be available with a diesel engine. A $4,000 surcharge upgrades the Lariat trim to a diesel variant while upgrading the King Ranch and Platinum models cost $3,000.

Ford’s Head of Product Development Hau Thai-Tang said, “Even a few years ago, customers wouldn’t have imagined an EPA-estimated rating of 30 mpg highway would be possible in a full-size pickup, but our team of crazy-smart engineers rose to the challenge.”

Ford is currently booking orders for the F-150 Power Stroke Diesel with deliveries hoped to start from next month.

Stay tuned and we will let you know when the diesel model comes to the UAE market.
