Aston Martin announced the debut of their next flagship earlier this week because the widely acclaimed Vanquish model is nearing its end. The new car will be a revival of two of Aston Martin’s household names, the DBS and the Superleggera. The British marque is tight-lipped on the performance details of the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera for now, but it is hoped the supercar retains the high-performance V-12 engine of the outgoing Vanquish S which purges out 595 hp at max output.
The last time an Aston Martin was given the DBS name tag was in 2007. The Superleggera was used last in 1959 on a DB4, which stands for super light, so expect a lightweight sports car with incredible power. This interesting move by the automaker comes under its Second Century Plan which calls for replacing the old models with the new ones.
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is just a start, the British automaker has already begun intensifying the onslaught as it is planning on releasing the production version of the DBX concept in 2019. The Lagonda sedan, the Lagonda SUV, and a mid-sized sports car are all on the list of models to be released by 2023, of which the Lagonda models will be offered as EVs much to the favor of the environment.
