The Swedish auto manufacturer Volvo has introduced its all-electric commercial truck named FL Truck. The Volvo all-electric truck weighs sixteen tons and is made specifically for urban usage, which means it can manage urban delivery and waste management jobs making cities cleaner while the all-electric drivetrain shall make the environment greener by zero emissions.
European countries have started to curb the use of gasoline, especially diesel vehicles on their roads, and therefore, Volvo has caught up to the opportunity allowing its new truck to function without any worry of emission standards. The FL Truck’s single motor can reach a high of 248 hp and 313 lb-ft torque. The 2-speed transmission is enough to move the heavy truck with trash inside.
Volvo has also given various battery pack options, which can be selected as per the truck’s usage. Hence, the Volvo all-electric truck can house 2 to 6 batteries of 100 to 300 kWh output giving the truck a 186-mile range at full capacity. An AC adapter charges the truck in 10 hours, while fast DC charging takes 1 to 2 hours for a full charge.

Volvo’s step is a move toward the future after they sold 4,000 of their electric buses. It won’t be long until Volvo integrates the all-electric technology in their entire fleet of vehicles.
