After the success of Geneva and New York Auto Shows, all eyes are now on the upcoming Beijing Motor Show and sources indicate that the German automaker may use this opportunity to debut the all-new Mercedes A-Class Sedan.
The Mercedes A-Class will compete with the likes of Audi A3 and the BMW 1-Series sedan which is only available in China. In terms of design, the Mercedes A-Class sedan will most likely borrow styling elements from the CLA or C-Class.
The interior will be similar to the A-Class hatchback, which means we can expect a three-spoke steering wheel, round-shaped A/C vents, and the Mercedes User Experience (MBUX) system.
The powertrains might also be same as the hatchback, so we can expect a 1.33-liter four-cylinder unit developing 163 PS (120 kW) and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 224 PS (165 kW). Later, the automaker may add AMG variants as well including the A35 with 300 PS and the A45 churning out 400 PS.
Although BMW 1-Series sedan is China exclusive, we believe that the A-Class sedan will not just be limited to one country and the automaker will launch it in different markets as well. We would have to wait till the Beijing Motor Show to receive more information.
