In line with current safety standards and the worldwide selfie trend, Chevrolet has innovatively created a new technology termed the Selfie Steering Wheel, which minimizes distraction for those drivers who love snapping selfies while driving and allows them to take flawless driving selfies with complete and unhindered focus on the road.
The technology is developed by a capable team of experts, working for Chevrolet’s Advanced Technology and Innovation Center. The innovative steering hosts a 4G capable, adjustable, high-resolution camera that will be placed right in the driver’s line of sight so they can take the perfect photo with the press of a button without hindering their driving ability.
The images taken through the adjustable camera can be uploaded to all popular image sharing sites such as Instagram and Imgur, allowing the user to add captions using the voice support feature. The good news is, the Selfie Steering Wheel will be compatible with all Chevy models produced after 2005, so a wide range of vehicles will be covered not limiting the technology to latest models. Reports suggest the innovative technology will cost no more than $200, thus making it an affordable upgrade.
Driving while using mobile phones has caused many accidents in the modern century. Reports suggest that as much as 74% of people use a mobile phone while driving and 50% of accidents are caused due to mobile phone usage. To discourage cellphone usage while driving, Chevrolet Middle East has started an AlertTags campaign that they will fully reveal on April Fool’s Day.
Through the campaign, the company will share a number of relevant hashtags like #whiledrivingisdangerous and #whiledrivingkills. Chevrolet hopes that their efforts will bear fruit and lots of lives could be saved.
The Chief Marketing Officer at Chevrolet Middle East, Molly Peck said, “As one of our foundational commitments, safety is ingrained in the Chevrolet DNA. From our range of innovative vehicle technologies to road safety initiatives such as AlertTags, we are dedicated to encouraging responsible driving habits across the communities we operate in.”
She further remarked, “The AlertTags idea was one that our entire Chevrolet team could immediately get behind as its mechanics make room for a direct conversation with reckless offenders. Targeting ‘whiledriving’ users at the exact moment they are posting irresponsibly, our AlertTags messages are helping create safer roads and reduce the number of accidents caused by distracted driving. We hope communities join in to help us transform the conversation – if AlertTags can save just one life, the campaign will have been a success.”
