The first-generation Honda Insight was one of the world’s first few hybrids, which was later discontinued. Honda now has made a comeback in the electrified vehicle market with the 2019 Honda Insight. The new Insight will be a 4-door sedan instead of a 5-door hatch (second generation), sitting between Civic and Accord in the Honda fleet.
The sedan was initially teased as a prototype at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Recently, another trailer was released before the official showcasing on Wednesday at the 2018 New York Auto Show. The Insight does not look different from its prototype and after final tweaks, the sedan resembles the latest Civic, especially with the front chrome highlight and the sporty bumper.
The Atkinson-cycle 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is complemented with an electric motor for the hybrid function. Combined, the powertrain makes 151 hp and 197 lb-ft of torque. The biggest surprise is the 50 MPG mileage in the city, which is slightly better than the previous Insight.
The interior of the 2019 Honda Insight is decently built with complementing color tones. The dashboard houses a 7.0-inch info screen for the driver and an 8.0-inch infotainment system that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Play. Moreover, there is an array of safety and driving assist features to make the journeys convenient and safer.
Further details and pricing range will be revealed after its release this summer. We do not have any news yet about its arrival in the UAE.
