The Volvo Polestar 1 was unveiled last year and gained popularity being the automaker’s first ever electric car. Recently, the company announced that the Polestar 1 is now available for pre-ordering and can also be configured online according to customer specification.
In terms of design, the Volvo Polestar 1 closely resembles the Volvo Concept Coupe previewed in 2013. It is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with two electric motors that deliver a combined 600 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. The gasoline unit powers the front wheels while the two electric motors run the rear wheels. The Polestar 1 will be capable of running 93 miles (150 kilometers) solely on an electric charge.
The buying process is currently unknown but Volvo has mentioned that the sedan will be offered on a subscription basis. The pre-order is available in 18 countries including China, United States, Sweden, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada.
Customers interested in buying Polestar 1 will have to submit a deposit of $2,500, which is fully-refundable. Accessing the configurator requires submitting an application on the website with name, email, address, phone number and the location.
