The 2019 Subaru Forester is scheduled to be revealed at the end of this month at the 2018 New York Auto Show but the automaker has published a teaser image to give us a glimpse of the fifth generation SUV.
The teaser image reveals the rear profile of the vehicle, specifically the taillights which are not C-shaped LEDs. The overall design might be similar to the Viziv Future Concept which was previewed at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
Reports suggest the 2019 Forester will ride on the Subaru’s new Global Platform which also underpins the 2017 Subaru Impreza as well as the 2019 Subaru Ascent.
If we consider that the new Ascent and Forester will be sharing some traits, we can expect the 2019 Forester with the same 2.4-liter turbocharged flat-four engine found in the Ascent. This 2.4-liter turbo unit offers a phenomenal 260 horsepower and 277 lb.-ft of torque. Other than a powerful engine, the automaker will also add some driver assistance and safety systems including the Subaru ‘Eye-Sight’ system.
Subaru also plans to launch the hybrid variant of the new Forester next month at the Beijing Motor Show. More information will be revealed at the New York Auto Show later this month.
