The Japanese automaker has introduced the new Toyota Auris, which is a hatchback version of the popular Toyota Corolla Sedan. It rides on the Japanese automaker’s latest modular platform: Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA).
The Toyota Auris is available in two hybrid engine options i.e. the 120 bhp 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle inline-4 unit which is also found in the Toyota Prius and the C-HR, and the next-gen 2.0-liter hybrid producing 177 bhp. The latter has paddle shifters as well.
Toyota also made an announcement during the Geneva Show that it will no longer offer diesel engines in the European models, thus it is safe to say the Auris won’t be available with a diesel engine.
Talking about the design, the Toyota Auris hatchback boasts a sleek-designed front fascia with sharp headlights and a wide-lowered chrome grille. No details have been revealed regarding the interior but we can expect the Auris hatchback to share amenities with the Toyota Corolla. Unfortunately, none of the Toyota models feature Android Auto or Apple Car Play and it might not be offered on the new Toyota Auris as well.
We can’t confirm at the moment whether the new Auris hatchback will arrive in the GCC region or not.
