Tata Motors, one of the largest auto-manufacturing groups in India, impressed everyone at the Geneva Motor Show with the introduction of its Tata E-Vision electric sedan concept.
Tata Motors became popular back in 2009 when the automaker introduced the Nano hatchback, which was regarded as the world’s cheapest car. However, to compete against the big automakers, Tata recently partnered with Jaguar Land Rover subsidiary to construct an innovative modular platform called ‘Omega’. It stands for Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced and has the flexibility to support compact sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs and even electric cars.
Coming back to the Tata E-Vision, the electric sedan is based on the same OMEGA platform and the automaker claims it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.0 seconds.
The exterior design of the Tata E-Vision electric sedan follows IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy. Up front, it incorporates sharp headlights and a grille design, whereas aluminum highlights can be spotted on the sides. A panoramic roof is also present in the sedan.
On the inside, the Tata E-Vision electric sedan features a spacious cabin, slide-open instrument panel, display screens at the back, and lots of other technological amenities.
A production version of the Tata E-Vision might arrive soon but without an electric powertrain.
